Why short notice matters here
Each stage lasts about three weeks. You cannot book it in advance.
Milestones are not dates in a diary. A baby sits unaided one week and is crawling away from you the next.
Which makes this the one kind of session you almost always book late. A parent notices on a Tuesday that their baby has just started sitting properly, and the honest answer is that the photograph wants taking this week, not next month.
A studio across the city cannot usually absorb that. One in the neighbouring locality can — a short-notice slot is a much smaller ask when nobody has to plan a journey around it, and we would far rather fit you in than have you miss the stage.
The same applies in reverse. If your baby reaches the stage earlier than expected, moving the session forward costs you a message rather than a rearranged day.
The other advantage of being close is that we can be told about a stage the week it appears rather than the month. Parents nearby tend to message us the day they notice something, which is exactly when the photograph should be taken.
It also makes an unplanned second sitting realistic. If a baby starts crawling three weeks after the sitting-up session, that is a genuinely different photograph and being nearby makes it a reasonable thing to book rather than an indulgence.
Getting ready
Getting ready at short notice
Milestone sittings are booked in a hurry by definition, so the preparation has to be quick. A clean, plain outfit, a spare in case of an accident, and your baby at their usual best hour is the whole list. Nothing here needs a week of planning.
It is worth taking two minutes to think about what the stage actually looks like at home. A baby who sits confidently on a rug but topples on a hard floor, or who crawls only towards one particular toy, is telling us how to set the session up — and you know that and we do not.
If you are building a series, bring or mention whatever appeared in the previous sittings. The same blanket or the same toy across three visits is a small thread that makes a set read as deliberate rather than as three separate appointments.
Planning it
What we need to know to fit you in
The first thing is simply what your baby has just started doing, and when it started. A stage that appeared last week has weeks left; one that appeared a month ago may already be turning into the next thing, which changes how quickly we should be trying to fit you in.
The second is how flexible your week is. Short-notice slots are easier to offer to families nearby precisely because a gap that opens on Thursday morning is only useful to someone who can reach us on Thursday morning.
And the third is whether this is a one-off or part of a set. If there will be a next sitting, we note the setup and repeat it, which costs nothing now and is the difference between a sequence and a collection later.

How soon can you fit us in once our baby hits a stage?
Ask and we will tell you honestly what is open that week. Short-notice milestone sittings are normal and we keep room for them where we can, precisely because these stages do not wait.
Which milestones are worth photographing?
Sitting unaided, crawling and standing are the three most families want, because each one visibly changes how a baby holds themselves. Beyond that it is whatever matters to you.
Can we do more than one across the year?
Plenty of families do, and the set is far better for it — the same room, the same light, a baby who changes completely between visits. It is also the argument for using one studio rather than three.
Do you photograph the parents in these too?
Yes, and we would encourage it. A baby learning to stand is holding onto someone, and that hand in the frame is usually the part parents come back to.
Which areas do families travel from for milestone sittings?
Mostly the residential pockets closest to us - Viman Nagar, Chandan Nagar, Lohegaon, Dhanori, Tingre Nagar and Vishrantwadi - plus Kharadi and Kalyani Nagar. Short notice works best when the studio is nearby, which is why these sittings cluster locally.
How quickly can you usually fit a milestone sitting in?
Ask and we will tell you what is genuinely open that week. We keep some room for these because the stages do not wait, and families close by are the ones who can actually use a slot that appears at short notice.
Our baby has started doing something we did not expect. Is it worth photographing?
Usually yes. Pulling to stand against furniture, sitting back on their heels, reaching for a specific person — the standard three milestones are a convention rather than a rule, and the ones particular to your child age better.
Should we photograph a stage that is already a few weeks old?
Still worth doing. A stage that has settled is easier to photograph than one that has just appeared, because the baby is confident in it, and confidence photographs well.
Can we combine a milestone sitting with family photographs?
Yes, though we would do the baby first while their patience is intact. Adding a family set afterwards is straightforward; doing it first rarely leaves enough of the baby's morning to work with.
Can we do a milestone sitting and a cake smash close together?
Yes, and a fair number of families do exactly that around the first birthday. They are different setups so they work better as two short visits than one long one.
Our baby is between stages. Is it worth coming in?
Often yes. The weeks between milestones are when a baby's personality is most visible, and those photographs age better than the technically correct sitting-up frame.
How do you keep a crawling baby in frame?
By not trying to. We work with the movement rather than against it, which is why these sessions need floor space more than they need props.
