Studio sittings for babies from a few months old, timed around naps rather than around our diary. We are in Wadgaon Sheri, the locality next to Viman Nagar, which matters when the good hour is the only hour.
Why the journey counts
The photography takes forty minutes. The travelling should not take ninety.
A baby gives you one reliable window a day — awake, fed, not yet tired. Everything has to fit inside it.
That window is the whole constraint. Spend an hour of it in traffic and you arrive at the studio with a baby who is already past their best, which is why so many baby sittings feel rushed and why so many end early.
From this side of the city the maths works differently. You leave after a feed, you are here in minutes rather than most of the window, and the session starts with the good part of the morning still ahead of it.
It also means a shorter recovery. A baby who has not spent the morning in a car seat settles faster once they are here, and an unsettled baby is the single most common reason a sitting has to be repeated.
There is a second-order effect worth mentioning. Parents who already know exactly where the studio is arrive relaxed, and relaxed parents produce settled babies far more reliably than any technique we have. A family that has spent an hour in traffic worrying about being late is carrying that into the room whether they mean to or not.
It also changes what a cancelled session costs. Babies get ill, sleep patterns collapse, and mornings occasionally fall apart entirely. When rebooking means another local journey rather than another expedition, families cancel honestly instead of pushing through a session nobody is going to enjoy.
Getting ready
What to bring when the studio is nearby
Because the studio is nearby, the temptation is to travel light and then discover you have left the one thing that would have saved the session. Bring more feeds than you think, a full change of clothes, and a muslin or blanket that already smells of home — babies settle faster against something familiar than against anything we can provide.
Dress your baby in something easy to remove rather than something impressive. Most of the photographs that families keep are simple ones, and a complicated outfit costs you five minutes of the usable window every time it has to come off or go back on.
If you have a favourite blanket, a knitted item from a relative or anything with a story attached, bring it and say so. Those are the objects that make a set of baby photographs specific to your family rather than generic, and they cost nothing to include.
Planning it
What we will ask before the sitting
The first question is always the routine — when your baby last feeds before the slot we are considering, and whether they are usually awake or asleep at that hour. Being nearby means we can offer a time that matches the answer rather than a time that suits a diary.
The second is who is coming. One adult, two, or a grandparent as well changes how the session is set up, because a parent who is also managing the baby cannot be in the frame at the same time. It is easier arranged beforehand than negotiated once we have started.
The third is what you actually want at the end. A handful of frames for family, a set to print, or something to sit alongside sittings you have already had — each points at a different way of shooting the same hour, and telling us costs one sentence.

What time of day should we book a baby sitting?
Whenever your baby is usually at their best, which for most families is mid-morning after a feed. Tell us their routine and we will fit the session to it rather than offering you a slot and hoping.
What if we arrive and the baby is having a bad morning?
It happens and it is not a problem. We slow down, you feed or settle, and we carry on when they are ready. Being nearby also means rescheduling is easy if the day is genuinely a write-off.
How long should we allow?
Allow more than you think, because the useful photography is a small part of it. The rest is feeding, changing and letting a baby be a baby, and rushing that is what produces stiff photographs.
Which areas near Viman Nagar do you photograph babies for?
Viman Nagar, Wadgaon Sheri, Chandan Nagar, Kharadi, Kalyani Nagar, Lohegaon, Dhanori, Yerawada, Tingre Nagar and Vishrantwadi are the closest, and we take bookings across the rest of Pune.
Is a short session worth booking, or should we wait until the baby is older?
There is no waiting for a better version. Babies change quickly enough that a sitting at four months and one at eight months are genuinely different photographs of a different child, and being close by makes it practical to do both rather than choosing.
Can we come back another day if it does not work out?
Yes, and it happens. A baby who will not settle is not a failed session, it is a session cut short — and being in the next locality is what makes rearranging it a small thing rather than a second expedition across Pune.
Should we feed before we leave or when we arrive?
Whichever suits your baby. If the drive is short enough that a feed before leaving still counts as recent by the time you are here, do that. If not, feed here — we plan for it and the room is set up so it is comfortable.
Do you photograph siblings in the same sitting?
Yes, and it is worth doing early while the older child is still interested. Twenty minutes of a four-year-old's attention is the realistic budget, so we spend it first and let them go and play afterwards.
Will you photograph us with the baby, or just the baby?
Both, and the parent frames are usually the ones that matter more in ten years. Say at booking that you want them and we will build the session so neither of you is stuck holding a prop.
Our baby is teething and miserable at the moment. Should we wait?
Ask us rather than deciding alone. Sometimes waiting a fortnight is right; sometimes a slightly grumpy baby produces the most honest set of photographs you will get.
Do we get to see the photographs before they are edited?
You receive the selected, edited set rather than everything taken. Test frames, blinks and duplicates are not useful to anyone, and a curated gallery is easier to actually use.
Can we come back for the next stage?
Most families do, and being nearby is what makes a short repeat visit realistic rather than an expedition.
