Maternity photographs are almost always taken in the stretch when travelling is least appealing — and when the calendar is already full of scans and appointments.
That is the honest reason to think about where the studio is. A session across one locality is something you can do on an afternoon and still have the day left. A session across Pune becomes the whole day, and by the last few weeks that is the difference between going and quietly postponing until it is too late.
It also changes what happens when the date moves. Being nearby means shifting a session by a few days is a message and a new time, not a logistical exercise — and late pregnancy does not keep to a plan.
If coming out at all is more than you want, we photograph at home instead, working with whichever rooms get the best daylight rather than rearranging the house around us.
There is a second reason the timing is worth deciding early, and it has nothing to do with travel. A maternity session shot at thirty-four weeks looks quite different from one shot at thirty-eight, and most people have a preference once they have seen both.
Earlier is more comfortable and gives you more options for how to move. Later reads as more obviously pregnant. Neither is better, but it is a decision rather than something to leave to whenever a date happens to be free.
The other thing that follows from booking ahead is clothing. Almost everything worth wearing for this has to be tried on at the size you will actually be, and finding that out on the morning of the session is how people end up in the one thing that still fits.

Give us the due date rather than a session date. The useful window falls out of it, and it is a range rather than a single morning.
Decide whether you want this earlier or later in the stretch, because it genuinely changes the photographs and it is easier to choose now than at thirty-six weeks.
Try on whatever you are planning to wear a couple of weeks beforehand, at the size you will be. It is the single most common thing that goes wrong with these sessions and it is entirely avoidable.
Tell us if your partner or an older child is joining, since it changes how the session is set up rather than simply adding a few frames at the end.

Why the distance shows up late rather than early
At thirty weeks, when the booking is made, distance is an abstraction. Nothing about the journey feels difficult and it barely enters the decision.
By thirty-four it is concrete. Sitting still is less comfortable, the day has fewer good hours in it, and a plan that looked reasonable a month earlier is now the thing standing between you and the session.
That gap between when the choice is made and when its cost is felt is the whole argument of this page. It is worth thinking about at the point of booking, because that is the only point at which it can be changed.
If the session has to move by a week — and it often does — a studio on your side of the city absorbs that far more easily than one across it.

How late in pregnancy can we still come to the studio?
Most families photograph somewhere in the last third of the pregnancy, and by then a shorter journey genuinely matters. Wadgaon Sheri borders Viman Nagar, so it is a drive across rather than a trip through the city. Tell us how you are feeling and we will plan the session around it rather than the other way round.
What if we need to move the date at short notice?
Say so and we will move it. Late pregnancy does not run to a calendar, and being close by is what makes a change of date a small adjustment instead of a problem. We would much rather reschedule than have you travel on a day you are not up to it.
Can you photograph us at home instead?
Yes. Home maternity sessions work well when the light does — we come to you, use the rooms that get the best daylight, and work with what is already there rather than rearranging your house. For families nearby this is often the easiest option of all.
Will the same studio photograph the baby afterwards?
Yes, and most families here plan it that way. Maternity, then newborn in the first few weeks, then the milestone sittings and the first birthday — one photographer across the whole stretch, so the photographs sit together as a set rather than a collection.
