Pre-Wedding Photography in Viman Nagar, Pune

Pre-wedding shoots for couples around Viman Nagar, Kharadi and Kalyani Nagar. We are based in Wadgaon Sheri, which is the difference between a 5am start and a 4am one.

Why the call time decides this

The light you want is at sunrise. That is a start time, not a preference.

The soft, low, directional light that makes pre-wedding photographs look the way couples want them to lasts about an hour after sunrise.

Which means the shoot does not begin at sunrise — everyone has to be dressed, made up and in position by then. Work backwards through hair, outfits and travel and the alarm goes off in the dark.

Every kilometre between you and the photographer is added to that. Starting from the same side of the city keeps a sunrise shoot inside the realm of things a couple will actually go through with, rather than something that gets downgraded to mid-morning and never quite looks right.

The same logic covers the evening. Golden light before sunset is the other good hour, and it is followed by everyone needing to get home — shorter journeys at both ends are what let you use both windows in one day.

Proximity also matters for the reconnaissance. Being able to look at a location at the hour we are proposing to shoot it, a week beforehand, removes most of the guesswork — and that visit is only realistic when the studio is nearby rather than across the city.

It changes the fallback options too. If the weather turns or a location does not work, being on home ground means we know what else is nearby and what it looks like at that hour, rather than improvising in an unfamiliar part of the city.

Getting ready

The night before an early start

A sunrise shoot is won or lost the evening before. Outfits laid out, jewellery in one place, everything charged, and both of you agreeing what time you are actually leaving rather than what time you would like to leave.

Being on this side of the city buys you perhaps an extra half hour in bed, which sounds trivial and is not. The difference between a couple who got six hours and a couple who got four is visible in the first hundred frames.

Bring water, something to eat, and a second pair of shoes. Every pre-wedding shoot involves more walking than anyone plans for, and the photographs suffer long before anyone admits their feet hurt.

Planning it

Working out the plan with you

We will ask what you want the photographs to feel like rather than which poses you want, because the first question has a useful answer and the second usually does not. Warm and informal, dramatic, quiet, cinematic — each points at a different time of day and a different kind of location.

We will ask how much time you genuinely have. A shoot planned for four hours that actually gets two is worse than one planned for two, because the good part gets cut rather than the optional part.

And we will ask about the wedding itself, because a pre-wedding set that clashes with everything else in the album is a missed opportunity. Knowing the palette and the mood of the wedding shapes this shoot usefully.

Why do you suggest starting so early?

Because the light is genuinely better and the places are genuinely emptier. An hour after sunrise you get soft directional light and no crowds; by mid-morning you have neither.

Can we do sunrise and sunset on the same day?

Yes, and it is a good way to get two very different sets from one day of effort. It works best when nobody has a long journey at either end.

How many outfit changes should we plan?

Fewer than you think. Each change costs time out of a short light window, and two well-chosen looks usually beat four rushed ones.

Do you shoot pre-weddings outside Pune?

Yes. We cover locations across Maharashtra and take on destination shoots, with travel agreed with you upfront before anything is booked.

Which areas do couples book pre-wedding shoots from?

Viman Nagar, Kharadi, Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, Magarpatta and Hadapsar are the closest, and we shoot across Pune and beyond. For a sunrise start, being on the same side of the city is worth more than it sounds.

How early is early for a sunrise shoot?

Earlier than most couples expect, because being in position at sunrise means hair, outfits and travel all happen in the dark. From nearby that is a manageable morning rather than an impossible one.

Can we do a shorter shoot rather than a full day?

Yes, and for many couples it is the better choice. Two well-planned hours at the right end of the day produces more usable work than an unplanned full day.

What if one of us is much less comfortable in front of a camera?

Very common, and it is handled by direction rather than encouragement. Tell us beforehand which of you it is and we will start with the setups that ask least of them.

Do we need to book a location in advance?

Tell us what appeals and we will talk through what is realistic. Some places need permission and some simply need the right hour, and it is worth establishing which before the day rather than on it.

Can we split the shoot across two days?

Yes, and for couples who want both sunrise and sunset without an exhausting single day it is often the better arrangement.

Do you help with what to wear?

If you want. Send us what you are considering and we will say what will photograph well in the light we are planning for, which is a more useful answer than a general rule.

How long before the wedding should this happen?

Far enough ahead that the images are ready for anything you want them for — invitations, a slideshow, or simply having them. Tell us the wedding date and we will work back.

Can family or friends come along on the day?

They often do, and it works fine as long as everyone understands the couple needs some space. Tell us in advance so we can plan the pacing around it.

Tell us your wedding date

Pre-weddings are usually shot a few months ahead. Send us the wedding date and we will work back from it.
