Pet Photography in Pune

Pets do not take direction, so pet sessions run on their terms. We keep things calm and unhurried, let your pet settle before we start properly, and photograph the personality rather than a stiff pose.

A session that runs on your pet’s terms

Pets do not take direction, do not understand why they are being asked to sit still, and have no interest in the schedule. Any session built on the assumption that they will cooperate is a session that goes badly.

So it is built the other way round. We let your pet settle before starting properly, work in short bursts rather than pushing for one perfect frame, and stop when they have had enough rather than when we have finished a list.

It looks unhurried and slightly unstructured from the outside. It is the only approach that reliably produces photographs of an animal that looks relaxed.

Personality rather than a pose

A stiff, symmetrical portrait of a dog sitting to attention tells you very little about the dog. The frames people keep are almost always the ones with something recognisable in them — the head tilt, the particular way they lie down, the expression that means they are about to do something.

Those cannot be posed. They can only be waited for, which is really what a pet session is: a lot of patience and readiness, punctuated by short moments where everything is right.

Bring the things that produce those moments. A favourite toy, the treats they actually respond to, the lead they get excited about — anything that reliably gets a reaction is more useful than any instruction we could give.

Nervous animals, and what makes it easier

If your pet is anxious with strangers, in new places, or around equipment, say so when you enquire. It changes how the session is planned rather than ruling it out.

The usual answers are a slower session with more settling time, or shooting somewhere already familiar — your home, your garden, the park they are walked in every day. A relaxed animal in an ordinary place photographs far better than a tense one in a studio.

Older pets, and pets who are unwell, are worth photographing sooner rather than later. Those sessions are handled gently and at whatever pace suits them.

Where the session works best

The studio gives clean, controlled portraits and consistent light, which suits pets who are comfortable in new places and produces the more classic result.

Outdoors suits most dogs better, because movement is allowed and the environment is not strange. It also allows the frames that show an animal doing what they actually enjoy, which are often the best in the set.

Cats, rabbits and smaller pets are usually easier at home, where they have somewhere to retreat to and nothing to be alarmed by.

More than one pet, and the people they belong to

Several pets can be photographed together, though it is meaningfully harder than one and needs more time. Mention how many when you enquire so the space and the session length are planned for it.

Portraits with the family are worth including. A pet alone is a portrait of an animal; a pet with the people they belong to is a photograph about the relationship, and that is usually what somebody wanted in the first place.

We photograph pets at our studio in Wadgaon Sheri and on location across Viman Nagar, Kharadi, Kalyani Nagar, Chandan Nagar and the wider east Pune area.

Before you book

Pet photography, answered

Straight answers on timing, cost and what you actually receive. Anything else, just ask — we would rather explain it now than have you guess.

What if my pet is nervous?

Tell us beforehand and we will plan a slower session, or shoot somewhere familiar.

Can more than one pet join?

Yes. Mention how many when you enquire so we can plan the space.

What does a pet shoot cost in Pune?

It depends on whether we shoot in the studio or outdoors, how many pets are involved, and whether you want the family in the frames too. We do not publish a fixed price because no two are the same. Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back with a clear quote — nothing hidden in the small print.

How long does a pet photoshoot take?

As long as your pet allows. Sessions run in short bursts with settling time rather than pushing for one perfect frame, and we stop when they have had enough rather than when a list is finished.

What should I bring to a pet shoot?

A favourite toy, the treats they actually respond to, and the lead they get excited about. Anything that reliably gets a reaction is more useful than any instruction we could give.

Should we shoot in the studio or outdoors?

The studio gives clean controlled portraits and suits pets comfortable in new places. Outdoors suits most dogs better because movement is allowed and nothing is strange. Cats and smaller pets are usually easiest at home.

Can our family be in the photographs?

Yes, and they are worth including. A pet alone is a portrait of an animal; a pet with the people they belong to is a photograph about the relationship, which is usually what someone wanted.

Should I photograph an older or unwell pet sooner?

Yes. Those sessions are handled gently and at whatever pace suits them, and they are the ones families are most glad to have.

Do you photograph pets at home?

Yes, and for cats, rabbits and smaller pets it is usually the best option. They have somewhere to retreat to and nothing to be alarmed by, which shows in the photographs.

What if my dog will not stay still?

That is normal and it is not a problem. Movement is often the better photograph, and the session is built around what your dog actually does rather than a pose they have no interest in holding.

How do I choose a pet photographer in Pune?

Ask how they work with an animal that will not settle; the right answer involves patience and treats rather than posing. Ask whether they will come to your home or a familiar park, since most pets photograph far better somewhere they already know.
